![]() ![]() What’s most impressive for me is that we’re being really diligent with our business and getting deals done early. Let’s hope he’s more Amad Diallo and less Nacho Scocco in that regard. What do I know about him, I hear you ask? Well, not a lot really, other than that he looks flippin’ mint on YouTube videos. He’s swapped the Stadium of Light for the Stadium of Light - to my mind, he’s the first player to ever make that journey. The deal was rumoured in the Portuguese online media a few weeks ago, and finally it’s been confirmed - with the man arriving from Benfica signing up for a five year deal. What about Luis Semedo, then? Or as he's set to be known, Hemir. Yesssssss! I’ve always wanted a Robbie Robot. We could have made a fortune by capitalising on the good end to last season and the hope and expectation that we’re taking into the new one, but yet again we haven’t and I’m left wondering why. It’s a minor gripe, all things considered, but with the club making huge strides on the pitch we’re often left wanting off it. The only stuff they have from last season are training tops, and whilst I like the Avec stuff it doesn’t quite hit the spot. I ventured onto ahead of writing this piece to see what they had to offer, and it’s almost all shite. I’m sure that there will be an excuse but it’s a bit irritating, particularly when a) I would have bought one for my dad b) I probably would have got one off my little girl and c) I live in a village where it’s half and half and I’ve seen tonnes of mags walking around in barcode shirts this weekend.Įven the new training gear - which we’ve seen worn by Semedo and Cirkin in recent days - would have been nice. Data sets may not be fully comprehensive (they only account for what is available on the web), but they can be used to gauge performance factors like staffing and sales.Father's Day came - and highlighted our crap merch selection!Ĭlubs all over England released their kits last week in advance of Father’s Day knowing that it’s a big day when it comes to shifting new shirts - but not Sunderland AFC, of course, who never seem to capitalise on these things and always wait ages to get their kits on sale. Thinknum tracks companies using information they post online - jobs, social and web traffic, product sales and app ratings - and creates data sets that measure factors like hiring, revenue and foot traffic. It is estimated that it will pick up about 400 employees in Refinery 29. The company has been through several rounds of difficult layoffs. Vice Media's employee count as tracked via LinkedIn has seen a steady drop since mid-2018. ![]() As of this week, Vice lists only 27 openings. Heading into this acquisition, hiring at Vice slowed by 40% in the same time period at Vox's 39% drop. Just this week, Vice announced that it would be acquiring Refinery 29 in a deal that has some media industry analysts predicting layoffs as part of the merger. The pre-M&A hiring pattern found at Vox extends to Vice Media ( $PRIVATE:VICEMEDIA), another new media player that's gone through its share of ups and down in recent years. The acquisition also comes at a time in which workforce growth at Vox appers to have stalled, as tracked by the number of LinkedIn members listing the company as their employer. Recent shifts in hiring strategy at Vox over the past quarter reveal a renewed focus on Sales and Revenue Operations along with a drop in hiring for Product, Technology & Design. Now that the New York Magazine acquisition news is out, Vox appears to be opening new positions - those 54 openings have now turned into 60. This time around is no different: job openings listed at Vox's careers site tumbled 39% between August and September, from 88 to 54 openings. This isn't unique to Vox: mergers are often preceded by hiring freezes, as we've seen the trend in other industries like banking and even pharma. The Vox Media moves don't just get covered by The New York Times, but they also tend to be preceded by hiring lulls in anticipation of newly arriving staff. The news was announced by The New York Times, which has had the scoop on a number of Vox acquisitions and moves, including the acquisition of the Wall Street Journal alumn publication ReCode, the acquisition of, and even the hiring of Ezra Klein to launch Vox.com. Last week, Vox Media ( $PRIVATE:VOXMEDIA) announced that it would acquire New York Magazine. ![]()
